BEFORE: Before: The backyard featured an aging deck, scattered patio furniture, and a large underutilized lawn. While mature trees added privacy and charm, one large tree needed to be removed to make way for the new swimming pool. The homeowners wanted to transform the space into a more functional outdoor retreat for their young family, wanting the backyard designed for entertaining, recreation, and everyday family living.
AFTER: The backyard was transformed with a new pool and spa, spacious patio, shaded pergola, and fire pit lounge. An outdoor kitchen and bar now anchor the space, creating a functional and inviting backyard built for the family to enjoy, relax and entertain.

BEFORE: This Sunnyvale backyard was in rough shape — small, exposed, and dominated by a large oak tree that made the space feel cramped and unusable. Backing directly onto an apartment parking structure, the yard lacked privacy and offered little room for kids, entertaining, or everyday outdoor living.
AFTER: What was once a cramped, exposed side yard was completely transformed into a warm and private outdoor living space. The new raised deck, modern horizontal fencing, lush planting, and custom water feature turned an unusable area into a stylish backyard retreat perfect for relaxing and entertaining.
BEFORE: This westside Los Gatos home has an incredible location that provides views across Silicon Valley to the East Bay Hills, but with nowhere to properly appreciate them. There is a large, level area that had once been lawn that lacked useabilty and a place to relax.
AFTER: A complete transformation with an infinity edge pool/spa combination with customizable pool lighting are the obvious focal points of this incredible new design. But, those elements only slightly overshadow the rest of the landscape remodel, which features a new porcelain patio and sunken fire pit seating area.

BEFORE: This Danville backyard had been neglected for decades and was badly overdue for an update. The cracked concrete, overgrown weeds, failing deck, and steep unusable slope made the yard feel abandoned rather than livable. With a dated layout and little functional outdoor space, the property had become more of an eyesore than a backyard.
AFTER: The backyard was completely reimagined with a new concrete patio, custom pergola, fire pit, and seat wall that transformed the once-neglected yard into a functional outdoor living space. Fresh landscaping, new lawn, and updated hardscaping brought structure, comfort, and curb appeal back to the property — finally making the backyard a place to relax and enjoy.

BEFORE: This cramped 1980s Pleasanton backyard was rarely used for entertaining, with an outdated, discolored pool and aging landscape throughout. The homeowners wanted to modernize the entire space, add a spa, and create a backyard that felt inviting, functional, and built for gathering with family and friends.
AFTER: The backyard was transformed into a complete outdoor retreat with a new paver patio, remodeled pool, raised spa, and custom seat walls. Thoughtful upgrades throughout the space gave these homeowners the feel of a private resort, proving that even a smaller backyard can deliver a big impact.

BEFORE: This Walnut Creek home features a dated 1970s-era swimming pool and an overgrown backyard slope. After more than 40 years, the pool and landscape were ready for a complete modern transformation.
AFTER: What started as a dream waterslide for the kids became a complete backyard transformation. We redesigned the aging swimming pool, cleaned up the overgrown hillside, and added a custom twisty waterslide as the centerpiece of the space. The landscape was enhanced with fresh plantings, natural rock walls, and a synthetic lawn staircase for a clean, modern finish.

Before: While the home had recently been remodeled, the backyard was still little more than a basic patio and lawn with limited functionality. The homeowners wanted to completely transform the space with a swimming pool, fire pit, vegetable garden, and inviting outdoor living areas designed for relaxing, entertaining, and everyday family use.
AFTER: This backyard remodel really shows the extent to which Alderland can add enjoyment and value to even the smallest of spaces. The centerpiece of this design, among the new concrete patio and landscaping, is the tiny pool, replete with jets, auto-cover, and double spill-overs. The small pool heats up to 101 degrees in one hr.

BEFORE: This newly built home just outside of downtown Livermore had a completely unfinished backyard — a blank dirt lot with no pool, landscaping, or outdoor living space. The homeowners wanted to transform the empty yard into a functional and inviting backyard retreat.
AFTER: The new design incorporated a swimming pool with a vanishing edge into sunken firepit living space to create a modern, clean, and inviting space to entertain and enjoy. Alderland really elevated the space

BEFORE: This newly built Walnut Creek home had no landscaping installed, leaving the backyard as a large expanse of bark mulch and a bare hillside with a few small trees. The property lacked usable outdoor living space, shade, and the warmth needed to make the yard feel connected to the home.
AFTER: The new landscape has finally given these homeowners a way to enjoy their backyard. A terraced slope leads down to a luxurious porcelain patio featuring a decked out pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and bar and a gorgeous pool/spa combo with spillovers. From bland to an entertaining heaven! Alder can do the same for you!

Construction to Completion
Before: This San Ramon courtyard with a fireplace was part of a larger outdoor transformation that included a pool and outdoor kitchen. The homeowners wanted Alderland to create a cozy, private seating area where they could relax, gather, and entertain.
AFTER: The completed fireplace and BBQ transformed this once-boring seating area into a warm and luxurious outdoor retreat — creating the perfect space for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the courtyard year-round.
BEFORE: Located high in the Alamo hills, these homeowners wanted to squeeze as large a pool as possible into quite a tight space. They also wanted to include extra features that required additional plumbing work.
