Before & After

Seeing the Before and After of our projects shows the undeniable value brought to each property

Problem: Your backyard is out of date, showing signs of distress, and is probably lacking features.

Your outdoor space is out of date, and featureless and is not set up to entertain friends or family. These factors lead to a simple fact: you just don’t use your backyard as much as you would like to.

Solution: Big or small, your outdoor space has potential.

We listen, we educate, and we help work with your budget to maximize your backyard’s potential. Your enjoyment will come when you just relax and take in the beauty of your new backyard. We promise you’ll be proud of your new backyard.

BEFORE: This early 90’s Walnut Creek backyard was barely used for entertaining. With small kids, the owners wanted to add a swimming pool and a BBQ island for the family.

AFTER: The updated landscaping features a swimming pool/spa combo that is surrounded by a patio. We also built a stylish pergola that provides shade over a fire pit, with the outdoor kitchen and bar providing utility and acting as the central gathering hub. Now it’s seriously ready for a party. BEFORE: This Sunnyvale home’s small yard backed up to an apartment parking structure and was dominated by a large oak tree. Not great for kids or entertaining guests, with very little privacy.

AFTER: A new level courtyard featuring a Timber Tech deck and a beautifully decorated wall with plants and a fountain hide the carport and apartment buildings. Now it’s a place to relax and enjoy!

BEFORE: This westside Los Gatos home has an incredible location that provides views across Silicon Valley to the East Bay Hills, but with nowhere to properly appreciate them. There is a large, level area that had once been lawn that lacked useabilty and a place to relax.

AFTER: A complete transformation with an infinity edge pool/spa combination with customizable pool lighting are the obvious focal points of this incredible new design. But, those elements only slightly overshadow the rest of the landscape remodel, which features a new porcelain patio and sunken fire pit seating area. For more photos of this project, click here.

BEFORE: This Danville backyard was installed 40 yrs. ago, with an old dilapidated deck, and an outdated layout.

AFTER: The updated backyard features a new concrete patio, pergola, seat wall and fire pit, with new plantings and lawn. What a transformation and ready to enjoy!

BEFORE: This cramped 1980’s Pleasanton backyard was rarely used for gatherings with a pool that was outdated and discolored. The owners wanted to add a spa and update everything.

AFTER: The updated backyard shows just how much can be done, even with a small space. Upgrading nearly every element, from paver patio, to remodeled pool, to the new raised spa and seat walls, gives these delighted homeowners a resort-like feeling. For more photos of this project, click here.

BEFORE: This Walnut Creek home sports an 1970’s swimming pool with a back slope of overgrown shrubs.

AFTER: While the primary idea was a waterslide for their kids, we also cleaned up the hillside an added a twisty waterslide. But a remodel of the swimming pool was also needed. We Enhanced the landscape with new plantings, rock walls, and a syn-lawn staircase! For more photos of this project, Click here.‍ ‍

BEFORE: Contrasted by the home’s remodel, this small Danville backyard was just a back patio and lawn. The owners wanted a swimming pool, firepit, vegetable garden and a more functional and feature-rich yard that would be great for relaxing and entertaining.

AFTER: This backyard remodel really shows the extent to which Alderland can add enjoyment and value to even the smallest of spaces. The centerpiece of this design, among the new concrete patio and landscaping, is the tiny pool, replete with jets, auto-cover, and double spill-overs. The small pool heats up to 101 degrees in one hr. For more photos of this project, Click here

BEFORE: This backyard was a blank slate, with just an open dirt lot.

AFTER: The new design incorporated a swimming pool with a vanishing edge into sunken firepit living space to create a modern, clean, and inviting space to entertain and enjoy.

BEFORE: This Walnut Creek home was a new build with no landscape installed, which consisted of a huge expanse of bark and a hillside with small trees.

AFTER: The new landscape has finally given these homeowners a way to enjoy their backyard. A terraced slope leads down to a luxurious porcelain patio featuring a decked out pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and bar and a gorgeous pool/spa combo with spillovers. From bland to an entertaining heaven! Alder can do the same for you! For more photos of this project, click here.

Construction to Completion

BEFORE: This courtyard with a fireplace in San Ramon is just a small part of a larger project that included a pool and outdoor kitchen. The homeowners were looking for Alderland to make a cozy, private seating area for relaxing and entertaining.

AFTER: The finished fireplace immediately elevates this small seating area from boring to luxurious!

BEFORE: Located high in the Alamo hills, these homeowners wanted to squeeze as large a pool as possible into quite a tight space. They also wanted to include extra features that required additional plumbing work.

AFTER: The final product is a spectacular pool with a built-in spa, thermal shelf, and even an infinity edge! This patio and pool make for the perfect place to enjoy the incredible views of the East Bay Hills.

BEFORE: Mid-construction on the new landscape of this Lafayette home, the above image shows the scale of work when installing such a feature-rich, all-new backyard. Alderland has all of the equipment, skilled labor, and expertise necessary to complete complex projects on time and on budget.

AFTER: A peek-a-boo view of just a small part of this expansive project shows the outdoor kitchen and bar, new patio with seat walls, and the unique fire pit/fountain combination. For more photo’s of this project, Click here
