Start With One Conversation

Tell Us About Your Project

The first call is with Don Vivatson, the owner and the person who will design your project. Not a scheduler, not a sales rep, not a callback next week.

Most people reach out after months of thinking about it, usually after seeing what a neighbor did, and arrive with a rough idea and a lot of open questions. That is exactly the right time to call. One conversation is usually enough to tell whether what you are picturing is possible on your property.

What Happens After You Reach Out

01

Don calls you back himself.

Same day, or inside 24 hours. He has handled every client relationship here for more than four decades.

02

He is already looking at your property.

Google Earth is open while you talk, so the conversation is about your actual lot, its slope, its access and its sun, rather than a hypothetical one.

03

You will be asked about budget.

Not to screen you out, but because a design has to be buildable. Sharing a range is what makes the drawing worth something.

04

There is no free estimate, and that is deliberate.

Pricing follows the design. A number with no drawing behind it is a guess that gets revised later, usually upward. You can read the full design-first process before you call.

Don Vivatson, owner and lead designer.

A rough budget range.

Most Alderland projects start around $250,000 and run well past that. Knowing where you sit shapes what gets drawn.

What you picture using the space for.

Swimming, cooking, entertaining, a place the kids actually go. The use drives the design.

Photos of the yard as it is now.

Including anything you already know you want to keep.

Your timeline.

Including anything fixed, such as a graduation, a wedding or a move-in date.

What to Have Ready

None of this is required, and a call without it is still worth having. It just gets you further in the first conversation.

Where We Work

Alderland is based in Walnut Creek and works across the East Bay, including Alamo, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Danville, San Ramon and Pleasanton, with selected projects in the South Bay and North Bay. The service area is kept deliberately tight so every project stays close enough to run at the standard our clients expect.

If your property sits outside that range, call anyway. It takes one conversation to know whether it is a fit. You can also see the full list of communities we serve.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

"Wow! An amazing team. Between Don's decades deep expertise in the field and Aaron's exemplary customer service, it's hard not to be a fan of Alder Landscaping. They really helped us think through our property's potential and provided us with a design that pulled out all the stops."

— Leslie W., Lafayette, CA

Prefer to Look First?

Not everyone is ready to talk on the first visit, and that is fine. The portfolio is every project Don has photographed himself, from $234,000 builds to a $1.3 million transformation, and it will tell you more about how we work than any description can.

One Call Is All It Takes to Find Out

Tell us what prompted the search. Most people have been thinking about it a lot longer than one afternoon, and the fastest way to find out what is possible on your property is to say so out loud to the person who will design it.
